Jill Wareham, local resident and previous campaigner for saving the Military Road over Afton Down has been prompted by two Brighstone Parish Councillors, Roy Havilland (Hulverstone & Mottistone ward) and Peter Simmonds (Brook ward), to start a petition to Save the Military Road.

So it has finally arrived, the first day of the Copenhagen Climate Change summit. We have been led to believe that it's going to fail, then it's going to succeed and then it will fail again, it's been quite a rollercoaster. This has really tested the participating countries' resolve to tackle this issue. This is made tougher because of the economic crisis which has caused hardships for so many people and so it's understandable that the economy is at the front of people's minds.

The Military Road between Brook and Compton at its narrowest point is now 10 metres away from the cliff edge. The cliff falls and erosion have increased alarmingly over the past few years due to the heavy rainfall, freezing temperatures and drainage.
